chiropractor
Roberto Desena D.C.
Dr. Roberto Desena is the founder of Maryland Spine and Health. While growing up Dr. Roberto always had a passion for helping and empowering individuals. He saw this passion being able to translate to a career as a healthcare provider maximizing his ability to help the community around him. He decided to pursue his studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
It was there, after a series of low back injuries, that he was introduced to chiropractic care during the first year of his studies while majoring in Biology/Pre-medical professions. After being successfully treated he developed a passion and dedication for chiropractic. The targeted and patient-centered method of treatment was something that very much aligned with his views.
Dr. Roberto went on to attend New York Chiropractic College in the Fall of 2013. During this time, Dr. Roberto was able to work alongside chiropractors, physicians, and practitioners from other fields while treating military veterans at the Rochester and Bath VA hospitals as well as spinal injury patients at a local long-term nursing facility. These experiences were instrumental in helping to shape his vision for the practice.
Dr. Roberto graduated in November of 2016 and acquired several advanced certificates in sports, sports injuries, and management of these conditions. He currently holds a Sports Science and Human Performance certificate that allows him to better work with the sports population of Germantown, Maryland, and throughout the state. This training allows him to partner with patients to improve function and prevent further injuries. He also holds a Comprehensive Nutritional certificate and a Custom Stabilizing Orthotics certificate, because as we all know proper health begins with your foundation. Dr. Roberto is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, licensed in the states of Maryland and Virginia, and is committed to furthering the profession of chiropractic.
Outside of the practice he enjoys spending time with his family. He and Jordan, his wife, have recently welcomed baby Paz. Furthermore, he stays involved in the community via fundraising, volunteering, and participating in professional networking groups that are committed to making a positive change for all.
